There are two ways to add fields, depending on whether the farm is new or already has fields.
Option A – Adding Fields to a New Farm (no fields yet)
If your farm doesn’t have any fields yet, it will appear greyed out. You will see a “+ New field” button. Click this button to start adding your first field.
Option B – Adding Fields to a Farm That Already Has Fields
To add fields to a farm that already has fields, open the farm and you’ll see the Add fields option. Just follow the steps shown on the screen. You can choose how you want to add the fields:
- Draw a polygon — manually outline the field on the map.
- Use auto‑detect — let the system detect the field boundaries automatically.
- Upload a file — if you have field data in a supported format.
- Search a location — type a city name or address to quickly navigate to the right area.
Once you choose the method, just complete the flow and the field will be added to the farm.
How to Edit a Field
To edit a field, open the farm and you will see the field list. Next to each field, there are two options: Edit and Delete. Choose Edit to open the field details. From there, you can:
- Rename the field
- View field history
- Update field information
Just make the changes you need and save them.
What does the "Archive" option do?
Archive removes a field from your active fields list without permanently deleting it.
Why use it?
A grower stopped cultivating a specific field (e.g., sold the land, fallow period, lease ended)
You want to clean up the farm view without losing historical data
You're reorganizing fields and want to temporarily set some aside
What happens when you archive a field?
The field disappears from the Active Fields list and the map view
It moves to the Archived tab (accessible from the All Fields page)
All historical data tied to that field is preserved
Other Cropwise products (Protector, Planting, Imagery, etc.) will no longer show that field
Important rules:
You cannot archive a field that has an active crop cycle/season. If you try, you'll get an error showing which season is active and a link to end it first.
You can archive multiple fields at once (bulk action from the field list)
Archived fields can be unarchived at any time — just go to the Archived tab and restore them
When unarchiving, the system checks for geometry overlaps with current active fields (in case something was drawn over the old boundary while it was archived)
